Bedroom plants: 3 Options to consider

by Donna Coakley-Mcgowan 12/20/2023

Bedroom plants have many benefits. In addition to making your space brighter and more lively, they can also help your mood and purify the air. If you're looking for houseplant ideas for your bedroom, here are some options to consider:

Snake plant

Snake plants are at the top of NASA's list of air-purifying houseplants. What makes them even better as bedroom plants is their ability to produce oxygen at night. Snake plants will thrive in bright, indirect light but also are fine in lower light situations, making them extremely versatile no matter how bright your bedroom is. Opt for a small snake plant to place on a dresser or bedside table, or choose a larger specimen to dress up the corner of the room.

Heartleaf philodendron

Heartleaf philodendrons are easy-growing trailing vines. They are very low-maintenance and also very rewarding, most continuing to grow even through the winter months if given adequate light. Hang a philodendron in your bedroom window for a romantic aesthetic, or allow the leaves to cascade over the side of a dresser or bookshelf for a more grounded appeal.

Rubber tree

Rubber trees are a type of ficus and very easy to please. As long as you provide these plants with enough bright, indirect sunlight and water them only when the soil is dry, they'll make a stunning addition to your bedroom. Even better, their thick leaves are known for drawing in and filtering toxins from the air, freshening your bedroom and helping you sleep easier at night.

These are just a few options for bedroom plants to consider. Choose the best plant for your room's amount of light, and you'll have a piece of living decor to enhance your space.
